One of AAUW’s primary goals is to promote education for women. The members of the Keokuk branch felt this purpose could be served by providing some “gap” financing for a Keokuk Campus female student. Established by the Keokuk Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), this scholarship will be awarded annually in the Spring as a second term scholarship to a Southeastern Community College, Keokuk Campus female nontraditional age student who has a 3.0 GPA and meets the requirements listed below. The amount of this award will be $500 per year and may be given as cash or as credit for SCC tuition or books, or in any manner that will help further her education (e.g., child care, transportation or general living expenses). The recipient may be enrolled in any program and be a resident of any state.
REQUIREMENTS:
In order to qualify for the AAUW/Keokuk Branch Scholarship, you must:
- Intend to register as a full- or part-time student in the Spring Term at the Keokuk Campus of SCC.
- Demonstrate financial need by submitting Financial Aid information with application.
- Note that preference will be given to a female, non-traditional age student (i.e., not have graduated from high school the previous year; including early/December graduates).
- Have achieved a 3.0 GPA.
- Make application to the SCC Foundation.
- On a separate sheet of paper, tell how receiving this scholarship will help you (not less than one paragraph; not more than a page). A copy of the winning application shall be given to the Keokuk Branch of the AAUW President.
- The recipient will be expected to attend at least on meeting of the Keokuk Branch of AAUW, preferably in February, March or May. The recipient will be the guest of the branch and transportation will be provided, if necessary. At that time a publicity picture will be taken and then distributed to area press.
